Huron 13U closes regular season with split against Pierre

PIERRE – The Huron 13U Tigers completed their regular season with a split Thursday in Pierre.

The 13U squad earned its first winning streak of the year after winning the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against Mitchell when they defeated Pierre 8-4. The Tigers scored three in the first inning and never trailed in the game.

Parker Bischoff opened the game on the hill, tossing five innings, allowing four runs on four hits and five walks, striking out two.

Carter Porisch pitched a perfect inning of relief to close out the game.

Josh Gilbert led the Tigers offense with a double and two singles. Porisch recorded two singles and a stolen base.
Bischoff had a double. Jackson Ford and Colt Culver each had a stolen base.

Despite allowing seven runs to Pierre in the first inning, Huron clawed back to take a 10-9 lead before the home team recorded a pair of runs in the fifth inning to earn an 11-10 victory.

Porisch struggled with control to open the game on the mound, allowing seven runs in an inning on five hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Porisch also had four wild pitches and three hit batters.

Ryker Shelton tossed the next three innings, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks. Sean Janes closed the game with a perfect inning.

Tyce Huber had a huge game at the plate for the Tigers, smacking a double along with two singles as well as stealing a base.

Collyn Hogle had a double while Culver, Jimmy Martin, and Quincy Rashaad each had a stolen base.

The Tigers take an 8-23-1 record into next week’s state tournament.
