Huron 13U splits pair with Aberdeen

ABERDEEN – The Huron 13U Tigers split a doubleheader with the Aberdeen Smittys 13U team in Aberdeen on Friday, losing the first game 11-1 before taking the nightcap 10-9.

Smittys jumped out with three runs in the bottom of the first, never looking back before walking off with the run-rule victory in the fourth inning in the first game.

Parker Bischoff opened the game on the mound, allowing 10 runs on nine hits and three walks, striking out two. Tyce Huber allowed the final run on a one hit in the fourth inning without recording an out.

Colt Culver and Bischoff each had a stolen base in the game.

Huron jumped out with six runs in the first inning and held off the Smittys’ comeback attempts for the 10-9 victory in the finale.

Jimmie Martin tossed the first 4 1/3 innings for Huron, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks, striking out five.

He was relieved by Blaise Simon, who threw the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks.

The Tigers’ offense was led by Carter Porisch with two doubles and a walk. Bischoff tallied three singles.

Culver had a pair of singles and a stolen base. Martin, Sean Janes, and Josh Gilbert each had one steal.

Huron will take a 5-15-1 record into Wednesday’s doubleheader at Klock Field against Renner.
