PIERRE — The Huron boys’ varsity soccer team posted a 3-0 shutout win over Pierre Tuesday.

“Tonight was a good game all-around by the boys,” said Leah Branaugh, Huron head coach. “Everyone played a part in the win and every varsity player got minutes on the pitch. I felt we really took advantage of Pierre’s errors. The boys played hard and with intensity the entire game.”

Lay Mwe Thaw got things started for Huron with a goal in the 33rd minute and Huron held a 1-0 lead at the half.

Just into the second half of play, Aung Aung Htoo scored on a free kick and Ta Ha Saw scored the security goal moments later to ice the win.

Eh Ja Beh Win stopped six Governor shots on goal to preserve the shutout. Huron improves to 4-6-2 with the win and travels to Harrisburg on Thursday.

Huron also won the JV matchup, 4-1, as Huron got two goals from Mister Min and a goal each from Mathew Thin and Elder Coello Morales.

Girls
Pierre emerged with an 11-0 victory in the girls’ varsity game.

Hkee Hser recorded 19 saves in the net for the Tigers.

The junior varsity girls’ game had the same outcome with Pierre inking an 11-0 win.
