HURON — A pair of Huron boys’ soccer players have garnered postseason honors.
Senior Ah Lar Sar and junior Ta Ha Saw were named to the All-Eastern South Dakota Conference team for the Tigers.
Additionally, Sar received honorable mention on the Class AA boys’ all-state soccer team.
Sar, who plays as a defender, has been a 5-year starter for Huron.
“He does an outstanding job on the defensive end and is the first to the ball, the first to make dynamic plays and uses his speed and athleticism to his advantage to help prevent goals from being scored,” Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. “He is a leader in practice and during games and I am so proud of the way he handles himself on the field and helps lead the team.”
Sar finished the season with one goal and one assist for the Tigers.
Saw has served as a team captain the past two seasons for Huron and has started on the varsity for three seasons.
“Ta Ha is a player who can play any position on the field,” Branaugh said. “He is very athletic and uses his speed and size to control the ball and take away opportunities from our opponents.”
During his junior campaign, Saw had a pair of goals from his midfielder/defender position.
The Tigers also had three named to the Academic All-State team., which requires an individual to be a senior with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher. Earning the honor were Kuh Ner Moo and Vu Nguyen, along with manager Kmui Htoo.
