HURON — Huron’s eighth-grade volleyball team capped a perfect season with a 2-0 victory in the A-match against Watertown on Thursday. The set scores were 25-10 and 25-16.
Aly Davis led the Tigers, who finished at 11-0, with five kills on 9 of 11 attacks. Ava Ulvestad had two kills on 4 of 4 hits, while Hylton Heinz was 5 of 5 with a kill and Jencie Goergen was 2 of 3 with a kill.
Goergen was 16 of 16 serving with six aces for Huron. Rogers was 9 of 9 with two kills, Heinz was 8 of 9 with two kills and Davis was 5 of 5 with two kills. Heinz and Goergen each had three assists.
The Tigers also used set scores of 25-18 and 25-17 to win the B-match.
Goergen was 13 of 14 attacking with five kills. Heinz was 9 of 9 with four kills, Davis was 7 of 7 with four kills and Chloe Carr was perfect on three hits with three kills.
Goergen also tallied nine aces on 16 of 17 serving. Davis was 4 of 6 with three aces, while Carr was 8 of 8 with two aces and Heinz was 7 of 8 with two aces.
Huron’s B-team finished the season at 7-4.
Seventh-grade
Watertown swept the Huron seventh-graders in a pair of matches Thursday.
The Arrows won with set scores of 25-21, 23-25 and 15-4 in the A-match.
Jaelee Olson was 11 of 11 serving with three aces for the Tigers, while Ava Wambach had three aces on 7 of 8 serves. Natalie Kinsley, Isabelle Kremer and Olivia Purintun each had an ace.
Kremer amassed seven kills on 10 of 11 hits, while Olson and Camdyn Fuchs each had a kill.
Watertown won the B-match with set scores of 25-20 and 25-22.
Hser Oo was 9 of 9 serving with three aces for Huron. Kinzey Stiefel had two aces on 4 of 6 serving, while Lilliana Miller was 7 of 8 with 2 aces.
Jeriann Ferfen had the lone kill in the match for the Tigers, while Stiefel was 2 of 2 hitting.
The Huron seventh- and eighth-grade teams will travel to Watertown for the Big 4 Tournament today.
