Huron golfers compete Thursday

HARRISBURG — With four of the top 12 golfers in the tournament, Mitchell used a score of 315 to edge Aberdeen Central by a stroke for the team title at the Harrisburg Invitational on Thursday at the Spring Creek Country Club.
O’Gorman was third in the 14-team event with a 351, followed by Yankton at 361, Sioux Falls Lincoln at 262 and Brookings at 363.
Huron was 13th at 423.
Olivia Braun of Aberdeen Central claimed the top spot in the tournament with a 3-under 68. Maddie Childs of Mitchell was second at 74, followed by Hadley Hart of Pierre at 75 and Erin Hurd of O’Gorman at 76.
Helping the Kernels to the title were Anna Eliason, who was sixth at 78; Mia Larson, who was ninth at 81; and Londyn Hajek, who was 12th at 82.
Taylor Sorben turned in a 98 to lead Huron, which placed her 41st.
Olivia Purintun and Kolby Glanzer finished with scores of 105 and 106, respectively, for the Tigers. Paige Sherron had a 114.
Next up for the Huron golfers is a quadrangular on Tuesday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
