Huron golfers play in tough Yankton Invite

YANKTON — Watertown’s Ty Lenards was the only golfer to break par Friday, leading the Arrows to the team title at the Yankton Invitational, on the par 72 Hillcrest Country Club golf course.
The Arrows fired a team total of 301 on the day, while the Brandon Valley Lynx and Harrisburg Tigers finished tied at 308, with the Lynx taking runner-up honors by having a better sixth golfer score. Pierre was fourth with a 309 and Pierre was one stroke back, at 310.
The Huron Tigers failed to field a full team for the competition.
Pierre’s Sawyer Sonnenschein and Taten Mauney of O’Gorman tied with two-over par 74s, with Mauney taking the silver medal in a scorecard playoff.
There was a four-way tie for fourth place.
Huron’s Emrick DeDeyne was 92nd in the field, while Ben Kleinsasser was 95th and Riley Jankord finished 96th.
Huron returns to action Monday at the Brookings Invitational.
