MADISON — The Huron gymnastics team returned to action Monday at a triangular in Madison.

Madison used a score of 130.700 to edge Yankton, which finished at 129.600, for the top spot. Huron was third at 116.600.

“It was good to get back to competing after the winter break,” Huron coach Julie King said.

The Tigers had a strong showing in the vault. Ellie Puterbaugh finished tied for third with an 8.500, while Maiya Hein shared the eighth spot with an 8.350 and Alivia Cunard was 13th at 8.100.

“Ellie Puterbaugh, Maiya Hein and Alivia Cunard had some strong vaults,” King said.
Cunard was also third for Huron on the beam with an 8.200, while Maria Wilson was eighth at 6.950.

“Alivia Cunard also had a great no fall beam routine,” King said.

Hein led the Tigers on the bars with 7.400 to finish tied for sixth, and was 13th in the floor exercise at 8.000.

“Maiya had a clean bar routine,” King said.

Hein was seventh for the Tigers in the all-around at 29.450, while Kaydence Cronin was ninth at 26.950 and Tahtiana Capers was 10th at 25.700.

Huron will compete in the Britton Triangular on Thursday.
