BROOKINGS —The Huron gymnastics team opened the season by finishing third at a quadrangular meet on Monday.

Sioux Falls Lincoln used a score of 132.200 to edge Brookings, which had 131.500, for the top spot. The Tigers were third at 110.650, followed by Sioux Falls Washington at 61.250.

Lauryn Gohl of Sioux Falls Lincoln, who won on the bars and beam, claimed the top spot in the all-around with a score of 35.850. Layla Erickson of Brookings, who won the vault and floor exercise, was second at 33.900.

Alivia Cunard was Huron’s top finisher in the all-around with a 28.700 to claim spot No. 11. She was followed by teammates Ellie Puterbaugh at 28.150, Maiya Hein at 26.450, Eh Dah Paw at 24.900; and Tahtiana Capers at 22.550.

Cunard was seventh for the Tigers on the beam with a 7.850. She was 11th in the floor exercise at 7.700, tied for 12th on the vault at 7.500 and was 17th on bars at 5.650.

Puterbaugh was the top finisher for the Tigers on the vault with a 7.800 to finish 10th, while Hein and Maria Wilson were No. 13 and 14, respectively, on bars with scores of 6.950 and 6.550.

Huron will make its home debut with a triangular Thursday against Chamberlain and Pierre at the Tiger Activity Center starting at 5:30 p.m.
