Huron Police and Huron Schools send notice to parents

The Huron Police Department and Huron School District sent a joint email to parents in the district Wednesday evening.

The email read:

"The Huron School District and Huron Police Department are investigating a report of a student in possession of a handgun on Tuesday, October 10, at the Huron Middle School. The suspect was not in school today and has not been located by law enforcement. As a precautionary measure, there has been and will be an additional police presence throughout the District.
