Huron realtor attends meetings in nation's capitol

HURON — Angie Uttecht, the broker/owner of Ace Realty of Huron recently joined more than 10,000 real estate industry champions in Washington, D.C., to talk about private property rights and to advocate for federal policy initiatives that strengthen the ability for Americans to own, buy and sell real property.

In addition Uttecht serves on the National Association of Realtors Risk Management Committee whose mission is to reduce risk in real estate and to stay abreast on legal changes and how state and federal laws and regulations apply to the real estate business.

“It’s always great to travel to the nation’s capitol and hear from our economists, our lobbyists and our policy makers as we all strive to help everyone realize the American dream of homeownership.”

Attendees heard from NAR’s Chief Economist, Lawrence Yun, who stated the Federal Reserve’s most recent rate hike was unnecessary and the aggressive rate hikes have hurt regional banks and the housing market.  New home sales are back to pre-pandemic levels, however existing home sales are historically low.  Currently housing inventory is down 40% compared to 2019.  Yun said we need to stop the bleeding and the way to do that is through more home building.
