Huron records win against Mitchell

MITCHELL — A pair of goals in the second half lifted Huron to a 3-1 boys’ soccer victory against Mitchell on Thursday.

Both teams scored once in the opening half.

After the Kernels took the lead with their lone goal of the game in the 10th minute, the Tigers were able to even the score with a goal by Lay Mwe Thaw in the 35th minute. He was assisted on the play by Ronaldo Pineda.

Nick Kleinsasser put Huron ahead, scoring on a pass from Elder Coello Morales in the 49th minute.

A minute later the Tigers added to their lead with a goal from Biat Say. Thaw assisted on the goal.

Eh Ja Beh Win tallied eight saves in the net for Huron.

“We played better tonight and moved the ball much better,” Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. “We made some adjustments to our lineup and that seemed to help as well.”

The Tigers won the junior varsity game 5-0.

Matthew Thin had four goals for Huron, while Mister Min had the other. Yo Yo had a pair of assists and Pah Ra Sai had an assists.

Klo Eh Hser and Jaxon Aung had four and two saves, respectively, for the Tigers.

Huron hosts Yankton on Tuesday.

Girls
Mitchell won the varsity game 9-0.

Hkee Hser amassed 25 saves for Huron.

The Kernels also won the JV game 10-0.
