The Iroquois Area Community Club is planning a fun-filled family Christmas event on Sunday, Dec. 8. Activities begin with a Christmas tour of homes to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. beginning at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Participants will be charged $10 and will receive a map and brochure of area homes featured on the tour.

As part of the tour, Rudy and Julie Waldner will open their beautiful home featuring hand crafted décor and Julie’s Dakota Reflections Art Studio with over 100 original paintings depicting winter and South Dakota scenes.

Some of the other tour homes decked out for Christmas include those of Jesse and Heather Blue, Jeff and Jenn Peskey, and R.J. Frankfurth and Ramie Coughlin.

Horse-drawn wagon rides provided by Tim Sullivan of Ingalls Homestead, will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Pick up and drop off is near the south gym parking lot.

Kids crafts, and visits and photos with Santa will take place in the south school gym from 4 to 5 p.m.

A Christmas tree decorating contest will be held with a $50 prize. Trees must be decorated and at the school by Dec. 5. Attendees of the Christmas event will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite tree.

The soup supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Community members are asked to bring a crockpot of soup or a tray of Christmas goodies. Sandwiches and drinks will be provided. A freewill donation will be collected for the meal. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The IACC was first formed in 2006 by a group of citizens with the purpose of improving the appearance of the community and enriching the quality of life in Iroquois. The community club has planned many family friendly activities throughout the years. The Christmas soup supper has been held annually since 2006.
