Ten members of the Iroquois FCCLA Chapter attended the South Dakota State Leadership Conference held in Sioux Falls from April 27–29. The event brought together hundreds of students from across the state to compete, connect, and celebrate leadership through Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.
While at the conference, Iroquois students participated in several STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events. Highlights of the chapter’s success include:
• Connor Dant earned a Gold – Top Superior rating in Career Exploration for his outstanding project on becoming a diesel mechanic.
• Tristan Konshak and Trae Hagen received a Silver medal in Focus on Children for their engaging project, Quesadilla Kitchen Adventures.
• Zoe Fernandes-Flores achieved a Gold rating in Professional Presentation.
• Clarissa Hanson earned a Silver in Career Investigation with her exploration of the auditing profession.
The Iroquois Knowledge Bowl team — comprised of Kali Burma, Lorna Bult, Madi Burma, Emma Eckmann, and Chenoa Harri s— competed after advancing from their Region V victory in December.
Although the team was eliminated in the first round at state, they are proud of their accomplishment and eager to return stronger next year.
The chapter is led by adviser Mrs. Vicki Dant, who praised the students for their hard work, leadership growth, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
“We are so proud of the dedication these students showed — both in preparing for their events and in representing Iroquois at the state level,” said Mrs. Dant. “This experience continues to build their confidence and career readiness.”
