Iroquois Sports Day 2023 planned

“Redneck Summer” is the theme for the upcoming Iroquois Sports Day Weekend planned July 14, 15 and 16.

Activities will include picnics, games for the kids, a parade and fireworks.

Following is a full schedule of events:

Friday, July 14
All Friday evening events take place at Woodall City Park
• 6 p.m. Community Picnic — Hamburgers, hotdogs and beans served. Attendees asked to bring their lawn chairs and a salad or dessert to pass
Freewill donations cover the costs of Sports Day activities
• 6 p.m.: Beanbag Tournament
• Bouncy House and Snow Cones                    
• Kids’ Chalk Art Contest on the tennis court


Saturday, July 15
• 9 a.m. Parade Line up on Quapaw Street
• 10 a.m. Parade on Main “Redneck Summer”   
(Parade prizes, first place - $30 certificate from The Chop Shop, second place – dinner for two at the Legion, third place - $10 certificate from Iroquois Store)
• Candy Scramble on Main Street
• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Lunch served at Bensley-Rounds Legion Hall
• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Iroquois Heritage Museum open          

Afternoon Activities at Woodall City Park:
• Noon to 2 p.m.: Bramble Park Zoo Exhibit
• Noon to 4 p.m.: M & J Water Bouncy, & Dunk Tank, Mud Tug of War

• 1 p.m.: Mud Volleyball (preregister with Jill Cundy 605-354-3793)
• 1 to 4 p.m.: Car Show and Concessions (registration at the Legion Hall)        
• 2 to 3 p.m.: Balloon Guy
• 2 p.m.: Bean Bag Toss — Prize money awarded (Bob 605-354-3105)
• 50/50 Drawing Winner will be announced prior to Fireworks at Woodall City Park
• Dusk – Fireworks

Sunday, July 16
8 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Breakfast at the Legion Hall            
10 a.m.: Community Church Service in the park, bring chairs
