HURON — Jack Peck, age 79, of Huron, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, March 20, at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation, with his family present, will be from 5 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, March 19, at Welter Funeral Home.

Jack Ray Peck was born on Sept. 9, 1945, to parents Raymond and Theresa (Manning) Peck in Miller, South Dakota. Jack attended Lott Country School in rural Ree Heights, through 8th grade. Growing up, Jack enjoyed rodeo and loved bare back riding. He started working for CF “Christy” Christensen farms after his schooling.

He married LaJean Christensen on June 26, 1965, in Huron; to this union two sons were born, Travis and Terence. When his children were little, Jack attended barber school in Sioux Falls and then returned to Huron. Jack worked at Ray’s Barbershop in downtown Huron for many years. He then took a break and worked for Farmland Industries for several years. Jack took up barbering again by opening his own shop, Jack’s Barbershop, retiring in 2009.

After LaJean’s passing in 1996, Jack married Karen Ringheimer on Sept. 18, 1999, in Huron. Jack had many hobbies including pheasant and goose hunting, woodworking, playing cards and dominoes. In later years, Jack and Karen enjoyed their coffee group and spending time with their friends. They also enjoyed going dancing and the occasional casino trip.

Jack is survived by his wife, Karen of Huron; his children and grandchildren Travis (Janet) Peck of Huron and their children, Taylor Peck of Rochester, Minn., and Jackson Peck of Huron, and great-grandchild Vienna Peck; Terence Peck of Huron and his children Traiton (Andi) Peck of Brandon and Tanner Peck of Warner; step-son, Mike (Deb) Carroll of Huron and their children Drew (Colleen) Carroll of Mitchell and Devon Carroll of Parker and great-grandchild Finley Carroll; brother Joe (Shirley) Peck of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Shirley Peck of St. Lawrence, Marvis (Terry) McClure, DeAnn Christensen, Wyann (Delayne) Tebay, and Lealda Higgins; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife LaJean; parents Raymond and Theresa; parents-in-law, Christie and Lorreta Christensen, Les and Ida Ringheimer; siblings James Peck and Donna Koeck; brother-in-law, Darrel Higgins; nephew Mike Peck and a great-niece.
