July 4 activities planned at Prospect Park


HURON — Make plans to attend the Independence Day Celebration in Huron on Thursday, July 4. Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. with the parade.

The location of the parade, barbecue and vendor fair will be in a new location this year due to construction on Dakota Avenue. Line up for the parade will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Church parking lot at 425 21st St. S.W. The parade route will go east on 21st Street to Dakota Avenue, then north on Dakota Avenue to 18th Street, then east on 18th Street to Idaho Avenue S.E.

Immediately following the parade, Leo Jensen will be providing patriotic music at Prospect Park while the pork loin barbecue is being served. Pork loin sandwich, baked beans, chips, and a drink are available for $8. Vendor Fair booths will be set up in Prospect Park as well.

Fireworks will be over Ravine Lake and Lake Byron, beginning at at 10 p.m. Patriotic music will be aired on Tiger 95.3 FM during the show.
