HURON — Ignite your child’s passion for cooking while fostering their creativity and culinary skills.

The SD BBQ Championships has added a Kids Que contest on Friday, June 7. It’s a thrilling culinary competition designed exclusively for young chefs ages 6 to 15.

With two age divisions – 6 to 10 and 11 to 15 – youth are able to show their skills. Each contestant will receive one pound of ground beef, tasked with making it the “star” of their culinary creation. From sliders and tacos to meatballs and dips, the possibilities are endless. This challenge encourages young chefs to think outside the box and experiment with flavors and techniques.

Check-in is noon to 2 p.m.; contestants will receive ground beef, grill and charcoal upon check-in and can begin cooking.

Turn in is at 4:30 p.m.

1st – 3rd places will be awarded in each division, with winners receiving custom Kids Que awards.
