SPEARFISH — Ashley Kingdon-Reese, owner of Independent Health Solutions in Huron, was presented the Enterprising Woman Entrepreneur Award during the 14th annual Celebrating Women in Business awards luncheon at the Spearfish Convention Center.

Over 150 women gathered for the May 14 event to celebrate accomplished businesswomen at the annual awards luncheon at the Spearfish Convention Center.

The Outstanding Women in Business awards are designed to highlight the impact of outstanding businesswomen across S.D. The S.D. Center for Enterprise Opportunity recognized the accomplishments of nine finalists for their business acumen and contributions.

Kingdon-Reese started her business, Independent Health Solutions, to fill a critical gap in the home healthcare services. She continues to expand IHS and overcome obstacles in rural healthcare by developing innovative service models tailored to the needs of aging adults.

Kingdon-Reese humbly started her business through the Governor Giant Vision Competition $5,000 prize. She has now grown the business to over 26 team members and other branches of the healthcare industry.

In addition, she founded the Coalition for Alzheimer’s Leadership and Legislation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising public awareness and providing free care for those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s while educating caregivers. She also volunteers with several organizations including S.D. CEO East Women’s Business Center, SANE Steering Committee, South Dakota Nurses Association and more.

She has also been recognized for her contributions through a variety of accolades including 2021 Who’s Who in America, 2020 Pioneer in Nursing Award Winner and more.
