His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial to follow at St. Martin Cemetery in Huron. Kirk was born on May 11, 1962, to Dwight and Ann (Kirk) Wullweber in Huron. Kirk grew up in Gettysburg and Yankton, graduating from Yankton High School in 1981. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Dakota State University in Madison in 1986. Kirk was also a member of the South Dakota National Guard during his college years.
On July 10, 1992, he married Ann Katherine Bahde at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield, and began his career at the South Dakota Developmental Center in Redfield. He then joined Amman Collection Agency in Aberdeen, in 1993. In 2001, he and his family relocated to Clermont, Fla., where he was employed for Westgate Blue Tree Resort. He and his family moved to Lebanon, Ohio in 2003, where he was Vice President of Collections at Federated Department Stores. He relocated to Round Rock, Texas in 2005 where he was Vice President of Collections at Linebarger, Goggan, Blair, and Sampson, LLP. Kirk eventually settled in Minot in 2010, and he owned and operated a debt collection business until 2018. Kirk was employed as a Rural Mail Carrier for the USPS until retiring in May 2024. He lived his final days doing what he loved most —working in athletics as Assistant to the Athletic Director at Minot State University.
Kirk was a firm believer in hard work and providing for the welfare of his family. He had a generous spirit and often looked out for the needs of others. Kirk was a spirited conversationalist who could often capture the moment well with humor. As a sports enthusiast, he attended the Indianapolis 500 with his Uncle John and often watched a variety of sporting events, especially college football games. He enjoyed going to concerts with friends, and most importantly, spending time with his loved ones in the summer at Leech Lake, Minn. His dog, Bailey, will miss their long daily walks in Oak Park. Kirk was a life-long and active member of the Catholic Faith.
Grateful to have shared his life are his sons, Nicholas (Sarah Anderson) Wullweber of Grand Junction, Colo., and Matthew Wullweber of Sioux Falls; his stepson, Dr. Karsten (Rebecca) Rohlfs of Sioux Falls; and his three step-grandchildren: Owen, Vincent, and Dominic. He is also survived by his parents, Ann and Dwight Wullweber of Huron; his siblings, Paul Wullweber of Huron, and Robert Wullweber of Sioux Falls; his former wife, Ann, of Sioux Falls, and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Marvin and Alice Wullweber, and Robert and Dolores Kirk.
His Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Adam Hofer and concelebrated by Fr. Robert Kinyon, both priests of the Diocese of Rapid City, and both cousins of Kirk.
