HURON — Kuhler Funeral Home of Huron has promoted two funeral directors, it was announced in a press release earlier this week.
Tim Bishop, a long-time funeral director in South Dakota and in Huron, has been promoted to the position of manager at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Although Bishop is not a stranger to funeral service in the Huron area, and is eager to learn the Kuhler way of caring for our families.
Bishop replaces Gary Gould, former manager of the Kuhler Funeral Home, as Gould is transferring to the Kinkade Funeral Home at Sturgis, to live closer to his children and his granddaughter.
In addition, Cole Hamerla, from Coal City, Ill., joined the Kuhler Funeral Home in February, as a funeral apprentice, until all requirements were met to become a licensed funeral director in South Dakota.
On Sept. 7, Hamerla received notice he had officially met all requirements, and is now a licensed South Dakota Funeral Director.
Kuhler welcomes Cole and his wife, Emmy, to the Huron community and look forward to many years of working together.
“With the retirement of our long-time funeral assistant Gene Chapman this spring, it has been tough in finding a suitable replacement,” said Cheri Bjorke, Care Coordinator at Kuhler Funeral Home. “With the addition these funeral assistants, we expect to have some Gene’s duties covered.”
