Lady Warbirds sweep Redfield

WOLSEY — Wolsey-Wessington pushed its record to 21-7 with a sweep against Redfield on Monday.

The Lady Warbirds opened the match with back-to-back set wins of 25-14 and then inked the sweep with a 25-15 win in the third set.

Samara Clemente converted on 24 of 27 attacks and finished with 13 kills for Wolsey-Wessington. Timber Haeder added 11 kills on 19 of 23 attacks, while Roxy Glanzer was 16 of 18 hitting with six kills.

Shae Uttecht was perfect on seven serves with a pair of aces for the Lady Warbirds. Haeder also had a pair of aceson 8 of 9 serving.

Kendal Uttecht tallied 30 assists on 61 of 62 sets, while Shae Uttecht had a team-high 12 digs. Glanzer recorded four digs.

Clemente and Tatum Luce had six and three blocks, respectively, for Wolsey-Wessington.

Charli Jungwirth and Ceci Suchor finished with seven and six kills, respectively, for Redfield, which is now 4-20. They both were 15 of 18 hitting.

Kinley Smith was 7 of 9 serving with an ace for the Lady Pheasants, while Suchor was 6 of 7 and Katryn Evans was 5 of 5 with an ace.

Hayden Gall was 39 of 40 setting with 13 assists for Redfield and inked a solo and an assisted block. Suchor had 11 digs, while Kendyl Siebrecht had six digs.

Both teams will close the regular season today. Wolsey-Wessington hosts Faulkton Area, while Redfield travels to play Tiospa Zina.

Leola/Frederick Area 3, Sunshine Bible Academy 1
MILLER — Using set wins of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-18, Leola/Frederick Area swept Sunshine Bible Academy on Monday.

Jill Ellwein had five kills on 15 of 21 attacks to lead the Titans to the victory. Sam Geffre was 9 of 11 hitting with four kills, while Kaitlyn Mueller also had four kills on 4 of 8 hitting.

Ellwein also converted on 16 of 17 servers and finished with five of the 19 aces in the match for Leola/Frederick Area. Geffre was 15 of 15 serving with three aces and Tayler Vetter was 12 of 13 with three aces.

Vetter also tallied nine assists on 48 of 48 setting for the Titans, while Mueller had a team-high 10 digs.

Dakota Boersma led Sunshine Bible Academy with eight kills and seven digs. She also was 11 of 12 serving.

Ciera Mickelson had four kills for the Lady Crusaders, while Soleil Mickelson and Natasha Appel each had three kills.

Abby Hinman was 8 of 11 serving with an ace, while Kennedy Keck was 4 of 4 with an ace.

Hinman also recorded seven assists for SBA, while Soleil Mickelson and Keck each had six digs. Ciera Mickelson and Maylee Backes each had a pair of blocks.

Both teams close the regular season today. Leola/Frederick Area is at Potter County, while the Lady Crusaders travel to play Lower Brule.
