Last yard waste pickup set for Wednesday

Posted

HURON – During a brief meeting Monday evening, Huron City Commissioner Rich Bragg shared that this Wednesday, Dec. 4, would be the final pickup of the green yard waste bins in Huron until next spring.

The commission approved the emergency purchase of two boilers from Allied Climate Professionals for the Public Works Building for $77,204.22. The commission held a work session last week and heard that the boilers in the building had failed. Bids were reviewed and this was the bid that fit specs the best and could get heat going quickly in the building.

Commissioners also:

• Approved the hire of Shannon Bintliff for the Human Resource Generalist position effective Dec. 16.
• Approved Christopher Zieres as a fire cadet for the Huron Fire Department.
• Approved the renewal of medical cannabis licenses filed by Dakota Herb LLC, Genesis Farms LLC, and SF Partnership doing business as Cannabis Connections.
• Approved the annual lease agreement addendum for Blue, Wheeler, and Banks for office space in City Hall.
• Approved the first reading of Ordinance 2265-16-95 regarding the snow emergency route and set the second reading for Dec. 9.
