Lavon 'Vonnie' Kozel, age 88, of Huron

HURON — Lavon R “Vonnie” Kozel, 88, of Huron, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019, at his home.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 22, at the Riverview United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Blunt. Military and Masonic rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Lavon R “Vonnie” Kozel was born January 4, 1931, to Royal and Opal (Ellison) Kozel. He was united in marriage to Shirley Groves August 19, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was employed as a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1991. On July 18, 1989, he married
Drelda Tyler. He was a member of the VFW, Riverview United Methodist Church, and the S.D. Rural Mail Carriers Association.
He is survived by his children, Mark Kozel, and Gayle Evans; four step-sons, Jeff, Greg, Barry and Cory Tyler; four grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two wives; and two sisters.
Memorials may be directed to Riverview United Methodist Church or Huron Youth Bowling Assoc.
