The Holy Trinity Catholic School fourth graders welcomed American Legion Post 7, Huron, member Jake Salathe, and American Legion Post 18, Mitchell, member Hugh Holmes, as well as American Legion Auxiliary member, Linda Holmes, to the classroom to learn about our beautiful “Old Glory.”
Following the South Dakota fourth grade Social Studies standards, the members of the American Legion taught and showed the students the meaning behind the folds of the flag, how to display the flag, and how to properly dispose of a flag.
The students also learned what the stars and stripes represent and the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance. They also played a game of Jeopardy to review what they learned. Let Freedom Ring!
