American Legion Post 7 has selected Michelle Chase, a teacher at Buchanan Grade School, as its 2023 Educator of the Year.

Chase has taught at Buchanan for 33 years, starting as a special ed teacher, then kindergarten, and is presently teaching first grade. She was also selected as District 6 Educator, and at the state level finished second as S.D. American Legion Educator.
