HURON –– The Lennox Orioles, seeded fifth in the SoDak 16, had to withstand a furious fourth-quarter comeback from the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers to claim a 58-51 victory and advance to the Class “A” state tournament in SoDak 16 play Tuesday at Huron Arena.
The Orioles had a five-point lead after one, a 31-23 lead at half, and had pushed the margin to 45-31 heading into the final quarter, but they would need all of that margin.
The Tigers outscored Lennox 20-13 in the final frame, but could never quite break within a one-score game.
The Orioles move to 19-4 with the win behind 18 points from Tate Gerdes. Aiden Hanssen added 17 points and Teegan Musser had 11.
Boston Katzer had a strong all-around game for Lennox, with eight points, a game-high 14 rebounds, and six steals.
The Tigers finish their year at 14-9. Shooter Frederick led Mobridge-Pollock with a game-high 20 points. Kale Knudson added 11. Shane Henderson led the Tigers with seven rebounds.
