To the editor:
Jay Lloyd said that I was criticizing Trump. Apparently, he never saw Trump on “Meet the Press.” I was just repeating what Trump told Kristen Walker on her program. Trump made the statements that I verified in my letter.
After being President for nearly four months, it seems he should start taking responsibility for his own actions and quit blaming everyone else.
Trump and the DOJ are revoking visas of college students, saying that they had conducted protests on federal property. It was apparently alright to pardon 1,500 people involved in the Jan. 6 insurrection after they tried to overthrow our democracy on federal property. They also did millions of dollars of damage to our Capitol and police officers were injured and some died as a result of the attack.
Trump is claiming international students are causing hate on Jews and others. He is creating hate for judges with his rhetoric. If you disagree with a judge’s ruling, you can appeal to a higher court, not belittle judges for their decisions and call them crooked. Judges make their rulings based on the law and the Constitution. Trump doesn’t think that he has to follow the law or the Constitution as everyone else has to.
On Memorial Day, Trump gave a speech at Arlington National Cemetery, where he highlighted the sacrifices of military veterans who gave their lives for our country. I remember when he gave a speech on Sept. 3, 2020, where he called these same people suckers and losers. Maybe you can have it both ways.
Trump has stated that the war in Ukraine would not have happened if he were President. During the campaign, he said he would end the conflict within 24 hours after being sworn in. Putin’s statements indicate that he is not concerned with Trump.
