To the Editor:

I’ve been listening to the Republicans complain about President Biden, on how he is dealing with the economy.

Yesterday, it was in the news that the cost of living has dropped every month, for the last 12 months, to a little over 4%. The unemployment is at 3.6%, down from 10% when Trump left office.

A prescription drug bill was passed, which will decrease the cost of insulin to no more than $35 per month. There will probably be other drugs that will get cheaper under this bill.

Biden was instrument in restoring NATO after President Trump tried to destroy it. I’m curious as to Trump’s motive in doing away with NATO, other than his dictator friends wanted it dismantled.

A major infrastructure bill was passed, helping restore our roads and bridges. I believe that S.D. will receive more than $125 million over five years under this bill.

Republicans are all against forgiving school loans for lower income students, yet were on board for the $510 billion PPP program. Seventy percent of that - $370 billion - went into the pockets of owners and shareholders of the richest 20% of the population. People like Tom Brady, Jared Kushner and Reese Witherspoon never had to pay their loans back, but the students are expected to repay their loans

I also feel the need to address Mr. Busch’s letter of July 12. After reading his letter regarding Mr. Schmidt, I wonder if it isn’t a case of the pot calling the kettle black?

The $787 million settlement that Fox News had to pay Dominion Voting came after Carlson kept saying that Dominion was lying about the results of the election, even though he knew it was not true.

It’s possible that this is why he was let go, not sexual harassment.
