To the Editor:

Music is an important part of our lives.

Can you imagine a movie or television show without music? What would a wedding or a funeral be without music?

What would a church service be without music.

May 7-14 is National Music Week. The theme for this year is “Music is…..a Worldwide Adventure.” National Music Week is sponsored by the Federation of Music Clubs.

Music is a feelint that permeats our minds and bodies. Music may calm us or excite us. It may make us joyful or even sad. We are so fortunate here in our community to have so many musical experiences that we can enjoy.

Our school systems - both public and private - have wonderful music programs, as do many of our churches. We can enjoy a variety of music via the Community Concert Series, as well as the musical performances in Campbell Park this summer - especially our City Band.

It is important that we continue to support all the music programs in our community. We need to not only help fund all our programs, but we need to participate as well. Have you volunteered to be on the Community Concert board? Have you joined your church choir?

I personally love all the music programs in our city, and I hope that all will remember to support these programs so that they can continue in the future.
