A 66-year-old man was fatally injured in a single-vehicle accident near Bonilla Friday night.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety and the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicate that the driver of a 2022 Indian motorcycle was traveling south on US Hwy. 281. The driver entered the southbound shoulder and lost control of the motorcycle and entered the west ditch.

The driver was taken to a regional medical center where he was pronounced deceased.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released at this point is only preliminary.
