PIERRE — The Huron eighth-grade volleyball team pulled out a 2-1 win in the A-match against Pierre on Monday to improve to 4-0.
Lennon Caudell had 11 kills on 18 of 20 spikes to lead the Tigers. Piper DeJean had six kills on 15 of 18 hits, while Claire Davis and Reagan Bischoff each had a pair of kills.
DeJean had four aces on 11 of 12 serves, while Bischoff had three aces on 10 of 12 serves. Davis had a pair of aces and Caudell had an ace.
Bischoff recorded 21 assists.
Pierre emerged with a sweep in B-match using set scores of 25-9 and 25-6.
Jaslene Perez had a kill for the Tigers. Kayla Nunez was 5 of 5 serving with an ace and Isabella Fechner was 4 of 4 serving with an ace.
Huron travels to play Brookings on Thursday.
JVC tourney
The Huron eighth-grade volleyball team won a pair of matches on Saturday at the James Valley Christian Tournament.
The Tigers defeated Highmore-Harrold with set scores of 25-9 and 25-18.
Piper DeJean had four kills on 14 of 15 attacks for Huron. Lennon Caudell, Claire Davis and Reagan Bischoff each had two kills.
Bischoff recorded five aces on 15 of 17 serving for the Tigers. Davis had four aces on 10 of 12 serving, while
Maggie Storm had four aces on 6 of 7 serves. Caudell added a pair of aces and had a block.
Bischoff also had a team-high nine assists.
Huron then got past Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 25-11 and 25-13.
Caudell finished with seven kills on 10 of 11 attacks for the Tigers. DeJean had three kills on 10 of 16 hits, while Davis had a pair of kills on 7 of 8 hits and Storm had two kills on 6 of 6 hits. Bischoff and Olivia Tschetter each had a kill.
Bischoff tallied five aces on 12 of 12 serving and had 14 assists. Tschetter had three aces on 9 of 9 serves and DeJean had three aces on 8 of 9 serves.
The Tigers used set scores of 25-21 and 25-14 to win the A-match.
Talley Hins was 13 of 14 serving with five aces for Huron. Jayla Schley also had five aces on 7 of 8 serves, while Autumn Siedschlag had three aces on 7 of 9 serving.
Ramsey Rozell was 6 of 8 serving with two aces and Arian Pfitzer was 4 of 6 serving with two aces.
The Tigers used set scores of 25-17 and 25-14 to win the B-match.
Lana Sharry led Huron with 13 aces on 19 of 22 serving. Taylor Sorben had three aces on 5 of 6 serving, while Cora Wilk went 4 of 5 with three aces. Zemi Severance and Jesse Mattke had two and one ace, respectively.
The Tigers won the C-match 19-25, 25-13 and 15-12.
Eh Khu Shee tallied 13 aces on 16 of 20 serves, while Hannah Paw was 9 of 10 serving with six aces and Neveah Garcia was 7 of 10 serving with six aces.
