Middle school volleyball 9-16-23

BROOKINGS — Brookings used set scores of 25-20 and 25-17 to hand the Huron eighth-grade volleyball team its first loss of the season the A-match on Thursday.

Piper DeJean led the Tigers with four kills on 18 of 21 attacks, while Lennon Caudell was 15 of 19 with three kills, Claire Davis was 8 of 12 with three kills and Maggie Storm was 7 of 9 with three kills.

Reagan Bischoff converted on 8 of 9 serves with an ace and had a team-high 11 assists. DeJean was 7 of 7 serving with an ace, while Storm was 5 of 6 with an ace and Davis was 7 of 8.

Caudell also had a block kill for the Tigers.

Results from the B-match were not available.

Seventh grade
BROOKINGS - The Huron Tigers seventh-grade volleyball team traveled to Brookings Thursday and dropped two of three matches.

The “A” team was swept 26-24 and 25-18. Arian Pfitzer was 8 of 9 serving with two aces. Ramsey Rozell was a perfect 9 of 9 serving.

The “B” team fell in straight sets 25-9, 25-6. Cora Wilk led Huron with an ace on 2 of 3 serving.

Huron’s “C” squad brought home the Tigers’ only victory on the day, winning in three sets, 25-17, 19-25, and 22-20.

Hannah Paw had a big night serving, going 12 of 16 with seven aces. Eh Khu Shee was a perfect 14 of 14 from the service line with a pair of aces while Neveah Garcia also collected two aces on 9 of 10 serving.
