HURON — After being edged in a high-scoring first game, the Huron 13/14U Tigers fell big in the second game of a doubleheader against Mitchell 13U White on Thursday at Klock Field.

The first game saw Mitchell jump out with five runs in the first inning. After the visitors tacked on two more, Huron put up five runs in the bottom of the second inning to get back into the game. The two teams each put up seven more runs the rest of the way, with Mitchell coming away with a 14-12 win.

Colt Culver took the start for Huron, pitching 4 2/3 innings, allowing 14 runs on 15 hits and a walk, striking out six. Ryker Shelton pitched one-third of an inning in relief before Noah Koops finished the game for Huron with a scoreless inning, striking out two.

The Huron offense put 18 runners on base, led by catcher Parker Bischoff, who had a double and a pair of singles. Jackson Ford also reached base three times with a single and a pair of walks.

Quincey Rashaad had a single, a walk, and stole two bases. Jimmie Martin slapped a pair of singles and stole a base. Sean Janes walked twice and stole a base. Culver had a walk and was hit by pitch while also stealing a base.

Mitchell pitcher Noah Bennett frustrated Huron hitters in the nightcap, striking out seven hitters over four shutout innings as Mitchell claimed a 12-0 victory.

Sean Janes took the loss on the mound for Huron, though his defense did him no favors, committing seven errors. He allowed 12 runs, but only three earned, over four innings on 10 hits and four walks, striking out six.
