This is National 4H Week and a time to encourage kids of all ages to join their local clubs, and to let the community know what it is that 4H members do. October begins the new 4H year so it’s a perfect time for new members to sign up.
The Beadle Bops club is one of several clubs in our county and they have been hard at work completing and exhibiting projects at the county Achievement Days and the South Dakota State Fair.
Another area where they are involved is helping with many community service projects throughout the year, including the Adopt-a-Hwy ditch cleanup on west Hwy 14 and bowling with the Center for Independence.
The club also received a Leader’s grant for $300 to complete this year’s State 4H project- making Care Kits for the homeless.
These will be used for those coming into our community that arrive with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. 4H is a wonderful program that teaches leadership, team work and compassion.
Come check it out and get started having fun while learning with other kids of all ages! The 4H office is located in the Nordby exhibit hall.
