ALCESTER — Norma Bonnes, age 100, of Alcester and formerly of Huron, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Alcester Care Center.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church in Huron with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation, with her family present, will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Norma Lorraine Bonnes was born on February 13, 1924 in Randall, Iowa to parents Edward and Lizzie (Braland) Dietz. She grew up in Crystal Lake, Iowa and Wessington, South Dakota where she attended Sand Creek School.

Norma married Lawrence Bonnes on August 20, 1940 in Huron. Norma was a homemaker, raising her three children, Diana, James and Sharon. She loved to play card and board games.

Spending time drinking coffee visiting with her friends and family was always special to her. She was a member of First

Presbyterian Church in Huron, Huron Senior Center, and Active Generations Day Break in Sioux Falls.

She is survived by her children, James Bonnes of Huron and Diana Anderson of Sioux Falls; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Marjorie Freske of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; her daughter, Sharon Constantine; her grandson, Barry Constantine; her sisters, Gladys Erickson, Betty Liedke, and Charlotte Hammer; her brothers, Orlie Dietz and Robert Dietz; and one sister in infancy; and her son-in-law, Larry Anderson.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
