Accident near Miller claims one life

MILLER — The Hand County Sheriff’s Office, Miller Fire Department and Hand County Ambulance were dispatched for a train/vehicle accident on the railroad tracks near 364th Avenue around 10 a.m. Friday east of Miller.
Also responding to the crash were Wessington Fire, Hand County Emergency Management, and Miller Police.
Early investigations suggest a semi with an empty trailer was traveling north on 364th Avenue, crossed the tracks, and was struck by a train with five cars loaded with grain. The driver of the semi was pronounced dead at the hospital.
This accident is still under investigation and no names have been released.
