Pairings set for Class A and Class B girls tournaments

HURON — The pairings for the Class A and B State Girls’ Basketball Tournaments were set following the SoDak 16 games on Thursday.

Sisseton holds the top seed for the Class A State Tournament, which begins Thursday at the Dacotah Bank Center in Brookings.

Sisseton, which is 21-1, will face No. 8-seeded Mt. Vernon/Plankinton (18-5) in the opening game of the first round at noon.

Fourth-seeded Vermillion (19-4) will face No. 5 Mahpiya Luta (22-0) at 1:45 p.m., followed by second-seeded Sioux Falls Christian (20-2) against No. 7 Hanson (17-5) at 6 p.m.; and third-seeded Flandreau (23-0) against No. 6 Tea Area (19-4) at at 7:45 p.m.

Arlington is the top seed for the Class B State Tournament, which begins Thursday in Summit Arena at the Monument in Rapid City.

The Cardinals bring in a 21-2 record and will face eighth-seeded James Valley Christian, which is 16-6, in the first game of the opening round at noon, MT.

In the other first round matchups, fourth-seeded Ethan (20-2) will play No. 5 Wall (19-4) at 1:45 p.m. MT; second-seeded Harding County (22-0) plays No. 7 Lyman (20-2) at 6 p.m. MT; and third-seeded Centerville (21-2) plays No. 6 Warner (21-2) at 7:45 p.m. MT.
