Parade of Lights committee begins new tree lighting ceremony

Posted

HURON — While construction on Dakota Avenue prompted detours, contingencies, and a temporary Parade of Lights route change, it also sparked a new idea. This year, Santa will announce the Parade’s judged entry and people’s choice (Facebook likes of entry pictures) results at Veterans’ Park on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. They will start by singing two classic Christmas songs together and end by lighting a new community Christmas tree. Join them for hot cider and cookies while they last (free!) and stay to do some Small Business Saturday shopping at downtown businesses.

Drawing on the time and fabrication expertise of committee member, Robert Bult, they have put up and strung lights on the new tree in front of Veteran’s Park. Admire it during the day as you visit and honor the Veterans’ memorial or drive by at night to see it lit up during the month of December. They invite the whole community to come and enjoy this year’s new and special tree lighting ceremony — even if you can’t make it to the Parade.

They hope to see you at the Parade of Lights for this year’s temporary route on Friday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m., and at the new tree lighting and award ceremony the following day. or as a wonderful addition to our committee that meets all year long to make this event memorable and successful. Please contact the Huron Chamber and Visitors Bureau if you would like to join.
