HURON — On a windy first day of autumn afternoon Wednesday, representatives from Greater Huron Development, the Huron Chamber and Visitors Bureau, Silver Leaf Property Management, Eagle Construction, and others were on hand to turn dirt and break ground on the second phase of a housing project that should bring over 100 housing units to Huron.
Mike Vipond of Silver Leaf discussed his excitement to start the project in Huron.
“You all have a lot of great things happening here in Huron,” Vipond explained. “I tell anyone who asks me that I am ‘all in’ on Huron!”
Mayor Gary Harrington opened the groundbreaking by discussing the continued need for housing in the community and thanking all those present who made the second phase of construction possible.
To that end, Vipond stated that the new construction already has a waiting list.
The new facility will begin construction this fall, with Brady Pekas of Silver Leaf stating that the goal is to be having a ribbon-cutting in late 2022.
The second phase of the Wheatgrass Village will have an apartment building that mirrors the first phase, with 69 units, but it will also include 36 townhomes as well, providing much-needed housing in the Huron community, as mentioned by Mayor Harrington.
