Porisch named to 11AA all-state team for Tigers

HURON — Sophomore Anderson Porisch was the lone selection for Huron on the Class 11AA All-State football team, while senior Kolby Hofer received honorable mention.

The All-State football teams for all classes were released Tuesday by the South Dakota Football Coaches Association.

While Porisch filled roles for the Tigers on both offense and defense this season, it was his role on special teams that garnered him the all-state recognition. He was named as one of the two special team players on the all-state team for his role a punter.

Anderson had 25 punts this season for the Tigers, covering 1,082 yards. He had an average of 43.3 yards per punt, with his longest being 63 yards.

“He was a great special teams punter,” Huron coach Dru Strand said of Anderson, who was a first-year starter. “He is a kid that plays all three phases of the game.”

Hofer played tight end and linebacker this season for the Tigers, but a majority of his impact came on the defensive side of the ball.

In nine games this season, Hofer had 74 total tackles, which included 44 solo stops. He had three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks

“Kolby was a captain and leader of Huron’s defense,” Strand said. “He missed a game and battled through injuries this season and still made a big impact.”

Hofer, who was a 3-year starter for the Tigers, finished his career with 240 total tackles, seven sacks and four interceptions.
