HURON –– Already in possession of the Huron middle school discus record, Huron eighth-grader Carter Porisch staked his claim on the school’s shot put record Monday at the Huron MS Invite held at Tiger Stadium.
Porisch won the eighth-grade shot put with a heave of 53 feet, 10 inches. The previous record of 50-9 was set in 1989 by Brad Peterson. Porisch also won the discus for eighth-grade boys with a toss of 158 feet, 8 inches.
Other winners on the day for Huron included Aom Hongsar in the eighth-grade 100-meter dash, with a time of 12.08 seconds, and in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.37. Emanuel Reyes won the seventh-grade boys’ 200-meter hurdles in 32.97 seconds.
Arian Pfitzer won the girls’ eighth-grade discus for Huron with a toss of 80-4, and Autumn Siedschlag won the girls’ eighth-grade pole vault, clearing six feet, six inches. Natalee McGaugh won the seventh-grade girls’ pole vault with the same height.
Wolsey-Wessington saw Kobe Bishop claim top spot in the boys’ seventh-grade 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.67. Eastlyn Burton won the girls’ 8th-grade long jump with a bound of 13-8. Cayson Walters took the boys’ seventh-grade long jump with a leap of 15-7.
Dara Olowu Davies won the girls’ eighth-grade 200-meter hurdles with a time of 34.35 seconds.
