Post 7 drops pair against Brookings

BROOKINGS —Huron Post 7 Tigers dropped a pair of games on Tuesday to the Brookings Post 74 Bandits in Brookings.

In the first game, the Bandits took a 5-0 lead into the fourth inning when Huron finally got on the board with a pair of runs. Post 7 scored five in the top of the seventh inning with two outs to tie the game but stranded a pair of runners. In the bottom of the seventh, Brookings were able to walk off with an 8-7 win.

Bubba Peterson started the game on the mound, going five innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks, striking out two. Brady Feenstra closed out the game, tossing the final 1 2/3 innings allowing one unearned run on two hits.

The Post 7 offense stranded half of the 14 baserunners on the night. Logan Leyendecker led the offensive attack with a pair of singles, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch. Jackson Mattke had a double and a single and Jack Pedersen had a triple and a walk.

Peterson had a single and a walk while Brandon Flowers had a pair of singles.

Will Conrad dominated Post 7 on the mound in the nightcap, pitching six scoreless innings and striking out three for the Bandits in a 10-0 Brookings win.

Tanner Gilbert started the game for Huron, allowing six runs over two innings on five hits and three walks while striking out two.

Leyendecker closed out the game with the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks, striking out a pair.

Pedersen had a double and a single for Post 7 at the plate while Peterson slapped a pair of singles.

Post 7 (5-17) will host Harrisburg Gold on Monday for a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. at Memorial Ballpark.
