SIOUX FALLS –– Robert (Bob) Duane Frank, 72, of Sioux Falls passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls. A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, May 8, at Heritage Funeral Home, with visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. on the same day. The burial took place on Friday, May 9, at 9 a.m. at the South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery.
Born on February 28, 1953, in Huron, Robert Duane Frank was the son of Donald and Margorie (Hurst) Frank. He spent his childhood in Huron, where he cherished moments with family and friends, enjoyed hunting, and helped his uncle and father with various jobs. Bob graduated from Huron High School in 1971 and enlisted in the Marines shortly afterward. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from June 21, 1971, to June 14, 1975, and was active in the Vietnam War.
After his honorable discharge, Bob relocated to Phoenix, Ariz., where he attended technical school. Upon graduation, he worked for Triad, which took him to Billings, Mont., and Portland, Ore. In 1991, he returned to Huron to establish his own computer company, Magnum Computers. While in Huron, he was an active member of the American Legion Post 7, serving as Post Commander.
Desiring to expand his skills in computer programming and management, Bob later joined a Patent Law Office in Sioux Falls in 1998. His final position was with A & B Business, where he worked on copiers in Rapid City for 15 years. After retiring, he returned to Sioux Falls to spend quality time with his family.
Outside of work, Bob loved spending time with his family, creating stained glass art, and riding his motorcycle. His greatest joys were his daughter and two grandchildren. As a proud Marine, he was actively engaged in the Marine Corps League, where he served as chaplain in Sioux Falls. Bob impacted many lives with his kindness and wisdom and will be deeply missed.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Daniel) Groenewold; two grandchildren, Tyler and Alexa; two siblings, Paul (Theresa) Frank of Sioux Falls, and Susan Roth of Burnsville, Minn.; and five nieces, Tonya, Lacy, Jodi, Jaimee, and Jordan,
He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Brooke Emma-Ann Groenewold, and other family members.
