NEW LONDON, Minn. — Ronald V. Hein, 76, of New London, Minn., passed away peacefully with family at his side on Friday June 6, 2025 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorias may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.
Ronald Vern Hein was born on June 14, 1948, in Huron, S.D., to Vern and Lonabelle (LeGrand) Hein. He was raised on the family farm near Wolsey, and graduated from Wolsey High School in 1966.
On June 15, 1968, Ron married Bonnie Peterson in Alpena, S.D. Early in their marriage, they lived in the Twin Cities and later in Rockford, Ill., before settling in Inver Grove Heights in 1981. Ron built a career in the trucking industry as a safety and executive officer, earning numerous national safety awards over the years. In 1991, he founded his own company, Inter-Safe Inc.
In 2015, Ron semi-retired, and he and Bonnie moved to Nest Lake, Minn., later settling along the Middle Fork of the Crow River, while spending winters in Sun City West, Arizona.
Ron was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in New London and Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West and proudly served his country for six years in the National Guard. His life centered around his family, including coaching his sons when they were young and watching his children and grandchildren in any event they were in, especially hockey. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, golf and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie; sons, Jeremy (Jenni) Hein and Josh (Hollie) Hein; grandchildren, Justin (Larisa), Jordan, Jenna, Rebecca (Reco) and Riley; his sister, Charlene (Kim) Hanson; and nieces, Andrea and Kristin.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
