HURON — The Northwestern Energy High School Sacred Hoops Classic was held Saturday at Huron Arena, with four teams mentioned in the most recent basketball rankings in the state taking the floor.
Vermillion 55, Parkston 54
The Vermillion Tanagers trailed the Parkston Trojans by eleven points heading into the fourth period, but Vermillion outscored the Trojans 22-10 to secure a 55-54 victory in the closing game of the Sacred Hoops Classic.
The Tanagers, receiving votes in Class A, move to 12-3 behind 19 points from Taylor Reuvers. Brooke Jensen added 11 and Kasey Hanson had 10 points for Vermillion.
The Trojans, ranked No. 2 in Class B, fell to 12-2 despite a game-high 23 points from Berkley Ziebart. Keeara Oakley added 12 points and snagged a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Elk Point/Jefferson Huskies, ranked fifth in Class A, jumped out to a big 45-16 lead by half on the way to a 65-39 victory over the Arlington Cardinals.
The Huskies were led by Bentlee Kollbaum with 17 points. Ashley Brewer added 16 points and Kaitlyn VanRoekel chipped in 12 as EP/J moved to 12-2.
The Cardinals fall to 10-5. Jaelyn Huntimer and Emarie Vincent each had nine points to lead Arlington.

The Dakota Valley Panthers bounced back from their first loss of the season Thursday with a 67-41 victory over the Winner Warriors.
The Panthers, ranked third in Class A, built a 24-point lead by halftime en route to the win.
Ella Otten led three Panthers in double figures with 17 points. Camryn Sommervold added 15 points and Aubree Worden had 14 points and five rebounds.
Winner (7-7) was led by Adysen Pravecek with 14 points. Kylie Sachtjen had 11 points. Lilly Barfuss and Payton Sargent each hauled in six rebounds to lead the Warriors.

The Wagner Red Raiders took a commanding 36-13 lead into half and came away with a 67-37 victory over the Milbank Bulldogs.
Wagner moves to 10-4 behind 24 points from Lydia Yost and 23 points and eight rebounds from Ashlyn Koupal. Braxton Nedved added 11 points.
The Bulldogs (8-5) were led by Tyra Berry with 15 points. Bella Pauli hauled in a game-high nine rebounds.

The Florence/Henry Falcons trailed by one at half, but held the St. Francis Lady Warriors to just two points in the third quarter to build a lead and eventually close out a 45-31 victory.
The Falcons move to 7-6 behind 15 points from Brook Hlavacek. Grace Kahnke hauled in eight rebounds.
Lesleen Makes Room For Them paced St. Francis (6-5) with 12 points. Joslin Bordeaux had six rebounds.
