HHS FCS class
The Huron High School Family and Consumer Science classes have been busy with projects and preparing for competitions in our three Spring courses!

Our Culinary Arts 1 has three teams competing in the State ProStart Competition on March 11th. These students practice for many hours and are excited to put their skills to the test! Interior Design has just wrapped up learning how to use the Elements and Principles of Design to create unique and personalized spaces. The RealCare Babies are always a topic of conversation for our Human Development: Prenatal to Toddler classes.

Students have been taking turns spending the weekend as a “parent” to the robot babies. With three sections of Culinary Arts 1 and two sections of both Interior Design and Human Development, we look forward to staying busy with tours, speakers, and project-based challenges in the nine weeks left of the school year.

In Mrs. Ashbaugh, Mrs. Johnson, and Miss Thompson’s, second grade classrooms, students have been diving into a variety of exciting lessons! In math, they are mastering double-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping, strengthening their problem-solving skills.

In reading, they are wrapping up Unit 3, where they explored different traditions through fables, legends, fairy tales, and more. The students have enjoyed learning about these timeless stories and the cultures behind them.

In writing, they’ve just begun working on biographies, where they’re learning how to share the lives and accomplishments of others. It’s been a busy and exciting time for these young learners, and they are making wonderful progress!
