Buchanan K-1 Center
My first year as an Instructional Coach and RTI Interventionist at Buchanan K-1 Center is coming to an end.

As I reflect on the year, it has been full of challenges, heartache, learning, growing, and change. After 23 years in kindergarten, it has been fun to learn about first grade more in depth. I am thankful for first grade staff that have been there to answer my questions and help me learn and grow so I am better able to help them provide the best possible education for their students.

I am especially excited about the training several of our teachers have been taking in April and May called Unraveling the Reading Rope. Over the course of several weeks, attendees dive into the theoretical framework known as the Reading Rope, reflect on their current practices, and leave with a stronger foundation and more confidence to engage learners in reading rooted in science!

We have attended one session so far and already have shared and implemented ideas to improve and enhance our teaching of reading. We look forward to one more session to learn even more. The staff at Buchanan continues to want to learn, to grow and to improve their instruction to benefit their students. I am proud and honored to work with this amazing staff!
