I teach Language Arts 9, 10, 11, and English Proficiency Development courses to students with disabilities. We work on IEP goals, Spelling, Character/Behavior, Reading (Basic, Comprehension, Fluency), Critical Thinking, Editing/Revising a sentence, and online/workbook curriculum activities.

Students are given a journal prompt every class period, too, for writing. The writing assignments may include creative, descriptive, debate, persuasive, and poetry pieces.
Technology is incorporated into each lesson by using student iPads and the Promethean Board. We research different topics, often. I teach to the S.D. State Standards and use Let’s Go Learn to assess student growth and to guide instruction. I am honored to be able to teach at Huron High School.

We’re entering an exciting month in our 5-year-old classroom! Throughout May, students will explore a variety of fun weekly themes, including Trees, Beach, and Summer. Each theme is packed with engaging activities that support learning in letter, number, animal, and color recognition. To bring the themes to life, students will also enjoy hands-on crafts that they can proudly take home to share with their families.

Another special highlight this month is Preschool Graduation! Our little graduates have been working hard, practicing their songs and movements, and getting ready to shine on their big day. We’re so proud of all their growth and can’t wait to celebrate this important milestone with you!

Thank you for your continued support as we wrap up a wonderful school year!
