Huron High School Quiz Bowl
Check out the 2023-2024 Huron High School Quiz Bowl Team!

It is going to be a great year! This is the largest group I have had in the more than 11 years of coaching. Even bigger than last year.

We have monthly meetings that serve as our group practice and mock competitions filled with sample questions and sometimes prizes! We will be traveling to three out-of-town competitions this fall and winter – Brookings (October), Tri-Valley (November) and Brandon Valley (January).

We also participate in the Q107.3 Radio Quiz Bowl. That will start up shortly, go to www.Q107radio.com click on Quiz Bowl at the top to see the competition bracket & to listen to the podcast of each round.

I am looking for Quiz Bowl sponsors. Money would go towards food and supplies at the monthly meetings (Pizza, water, dessert and small prizes). If you are interested or need more information, please contact Coach Lindsey Brewer 605-354-2532 or Lindsey.Brewer@k12.sd.us

Contributions can be sent to HHS Quiz Bowl, 801 18th St. Huron, S.D. 57350.

HHS Family and Consumer Sciences
Family and Consumer Science students are excited to be learning about Cooking, Nutrition, and Fashion this fall. Culinary Arts 1 has been hard at work learning the requirements of safety and sanitation in the kitchen.

Both sections are currently working on a catering order, which gives them great hands-on experience! Being a very popular class choice, there are three sections of Fundamental Food Concepts. They are working diligently to become skilled in safety, sanitation, and cooking basics.

There are two sections of Fashion Design this semester, which is fantastic! These students are currently learning about the history of clothing/fashion and how personality can be expressed using unique garment features.

All of these classes focus on project-based learning, so it will be exciting to see what the Huron Tigers create throughout the semester!
